With the digital personnel file from ELO, SCHULER Präzisionstechnik has digitalized and optimized its HR processes. This traditional company located in Southwestern Germany specializes in producing high-precision turned parts and assemblies for the automotive and medical engineering industries and many more.

We spoke to Bernd Zahner, system administrator at SCHULER and the person responsible for ECM projects, about the many advantages of digital HR management with ELO.

Mr. Zahner, as system administrator and project manager for ECM projects at SCHULER Präzisionstechnik, you're responsible for the IT infrastructure. Your company has been using digital personnel files for several years now. Can you remember what challenges you faced digitalizing your HR processes?

With over 400 employees today, our company has grown very quickly in recent years. Due to the high volume of HR documents and processes as a result, especially when onboarding new employees, we had to rethink the way we were working to stay on top of things. Digitalizing our personnel department really helped.

In your opinion, what benefits does the ELO software offer in the HR department?

One of the biggest benefits of ELO HR Personnel File is the option to integrate it with other HR management systems. At our company, we use Interflex for access control and time and attendance, as well as Sage for payroll accounting, for example. Thanks to ELO, we were able to integrate our data, combining all our systems into a unified digital HR management solution.

What's it like working with ELO HR Personnel File on a daily basis?

We've digitalized and automated the entire onboarding process with the ELO solution. You can imagine it like this: When we onboard a new employee, a digital personnel file is automatically created and a workflow is started in ELO. This workflow automatically generates and completes the required documents, such as training certificates or documents with IT access details. If needed, the workflow forwards them to the responsible colleagues. This not only saves us tons of time – it has also reduced process costs in this area significantly.

What do you think is the main benefit of a digital personnel file?

On the one hand, we need less time to file HR-relevant documents. On the other, we have access to HR files and data at all times and everywhere – which is very practical during annual reviews, for example. The dashboard also helps managers keep track of the workforce. Plus, ELO HR Personnel File supports us in making sure we comply with legal data privacy and protection requirements.

What's next? Are you planning to expand the solution?

Yes, we'd like to complement the personnel file with ELO's digital candidate management solution. We are also currently looking into digital training management to digitalize and organize our employee trainings and therefore our entire HR management, step by step. We've got lots planned and are already looking forward to our next projects!
